Sugar is the generalized name for a class of chemically-related sweet-flavored substances, most of which are used as food. They are carbohydrates, composed of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. Even though a teaspoon of Sugar has only 15 calories, it is not much recommended. White, Brown and Liquid are the types of Sugars that effects the health conditions. But because of its sweet taste, it became necessity. Sugar is also found in the form of cubes, from 19th century.
Effects on Body
1. Sugar is an organic substance that burns easily upon exposure to an open flame. Because of this, the handling of sugar presents is a risk for dust explosion.

Although, refined sugar contains no fiber, no minerals, no proteins, no fats, no enzymes, only empty calories, but it surely harms mental health. Sugar makes the blood very thick and sticky so that the blood cerculation into the brain reduces. This causes mental ill health and also leads to depression. A study conducted in University of California Los Angeles, concluded that, the high sugar diet causes insulin resistance, which in turn damages communications between brain cells that fuel learning and memory formation. The memory power will be reduced constantly. A 2009 study found that, the glucose content in sugar causes aging of cells, which leads to chronic brain diseases.
Sugar Causes Cancer
Sugar is one of the main root cause of Cancer. Several types of cancers are caused because of excess intake of sugar. A 2013 study found that sugars in the intestine causes the formation of a hormone called GIP, that in turn increases insulin released by the pancreas and promotes cancer cells in the body. Further studies have found that negative associations between high sugar and starch intake increases the cancer cell rates in both breast cancer and colon cancer patients. Sugar also increases the risk of cancers like gallbladder, lung, kidneys, prostate, laryngeal, stomach, endometrial and many more.
Sugar is a silent and invisible killer. It looks like plain and simple but poisonous. Much consumption of sugar causes swelling of joints, brain and liver. feeds cancer and all infectious diseases. It obsorbs the nutrients that we eat. According to the studies conducted by U.S. consumption of sugar can cause heart attacks, stroke and sudden death. The USDA recommends limiting added sugars to 40 grams or 10 teaspoons a day for a 2,000 calorie diet.
How to eat less Sugar
Eating less sugar is about preserving your health. Sugar can be replaced with jaggery. The World Health Organization recommends that the daily human intake of sugar in the average diet be no more than 10%, with a preference for only 6%. Unrefined, dehydrated sugar is better than white or black sugar. Use of dry fruits and some other liquids like apple sauce, pineapple or other fruit puree. Sugar also can be replaced by raw Honey, which contains healing properties. It is also said that as soon as sugar is consumed it effects teeth so brush the teeth immediately is recommended.
Sugar or Jaggery
Sugar and jaggery, both contains 60 calories per teaspoon. Both are prepared from sugarcane. But Jaggery benefits health and sugar damages the health. So replacing Sugar with Jaggery is the smarter choice. Jaggery is even recommended for diabetic patients, but Sugar is not. Jaggery acts as a cleansing agent and cleans the lungs, stomach, intestines, esophagus and respiratory tracts, but sugar is vice versa.
